This position plays a critical role in ensuring our earthwork, utility, grading, and site development projects are built accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate has experience with Topcon GPS systems, machine control, construction staking, and field surveying. Position Overview The GPS Surveyor / Construction Survey Technician is responsible for: Performing construction staking and layout Building and maintaining GPS machine control models Supporting field crews with survey and grade control Operating GPS base stations and rovers Creating and managing digital terrain models Verifying as-built elevations and utility locations Assisting project managers and superintendents with project layout and quality control Essential Responsibilities Perform construction staking for: Site grading Building pads Roads and parking lots Storm sewer Sanitary sewer Water main installation Retaining walls Concrete paving Establish and maintain project control points Verify benchmark elevations and coordinate systems Perform topographic surveys and site measurements Collect field data using GPS and robotic equipment GPS Machine Control Create and update machine control models Upload files to: Dozers Excavators Motor graders Compactors Troubleshoot machine control issues Calibrate and maintain GPS equipment Assist operators with machine control training Verify GPS accuracy and site calibration Quality Control Perform grade checks and elevation verification Verify utility installations match plans Complete as-built surveys Document field changes and revisions Coordinate with project managers regarding discrepancies Technology & Data Management Process survey data Maintain project files and records Manage GPS data collection and backups Update digital terrain models throughout construction Coordinate with engineering and design teams QualificationsRequired 3+ years of construction surveying experience Experience with GPS machine control systems Ability to read construction plans and specifications Strong understanding of grading and utility construction Valid driver's license Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Preferred Experience with Topcon GPS equipment Experience with AGTEK Heavy civil construction experience Utility construction experience Drone surveying experience FAA Part 107 certification What You'll Work On Projects may include: Mass earthwork Commercial site development Water main installation Sanitary sewer construction Storm sewer systems Industrial developments Subdivisions Municipal infrastructure Data centers Airports Large-scale excavation projects Benefits Competitive compensation Company truck Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid vacation Paid holidays Ongoing training and development Advancement opportunities Why Kuesel?
