THE COMPANY
Established in 2014, Albuquerque based Gridworks is the leading EPC contractor for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage, with a significant project pipeline throughout the Western U.S. The company is solidly positioned to succeed in the rapid growth of clean energy.
Position Summary:
Responsible for obtaining and computing data relevant to measuring the Earth's features. This position will continually develop an understanding of the construction layout, conduct topographic analysis, and capture static measurements using best practices and standard operating procedures. The Survey Tech will be responsible for comprehension of various GNSS correction methods, equipment configurations, and equipment maintenance. Maintaining high level of communication with office management and project teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Collect field data using sophisticated measuring equipment. Collaborate with project team to understand construction sequence. Apply the use of GPS equipment to set lath for construction, this included center and offsets while having the ability to field-fit miscellaneous items. Operate survey instruments to capture static measurements for a variety of disciplines with verified horizontal and vertical residuals from client provided benchmarks and vertical residuals daily using client provided benchmarks. Perform calculations to determine accurate elevations, distances, and angles for various construction projects. Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawing, sketches, etc. Position and hold the vertical rods or targets used for sighting to measure angles, distances, elevations, etc. Search for section corners, property states and survey points. Maintain and troubleshoot all GPS equipment. Safely operate field tools and supplies to minimize the risk of injury and property damage. Foster effective communication between surveying teams, engineering teams, and project management. Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to integrate survey data into project plans. Provide regular updates on surveying progress, challenges, and solutions to site and office management. Ensure equipment and tools are clean, properly powered down, and stored at the end of the business day. Work independently and as an active member of the team. Other duties as assigned.
Working Environment:
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Potential for exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Preferred two to three years of survey experience in construction or operations with exposure to engineering, civil, or renewable energy activities. Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility. Effective verbal and written communication. Computer literacy and well-developed file management. General comprehension of ALTA Surveys, and various schematics. Preferred understanding of surveying software e.g. Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, etc. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards. Ability to problem solve.
