This is a USW bargaining unit position. This position will be filled with
SIMCO USW
membership first in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement before any other candidate considerations.
  • Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will be responsible to collect geotechnical instrumentation and field data in the WIPP underground, process that same data using computer and database systems, fabricate and install instrumentation, and assist engineers and technical professionals in data collection and processing.
The candidate will support underground openings inspections, identification of potential ground condition hazards and mitigation of these hazards. Candidates must be able to walk on even and uneven surfaces; climb ladders, steps and inclines; qualify to work underground; accurately read dials and gauges; follow procedures; properly and accurately record readings; and be capable of operating computers and maintain computer databases. Candidate must be able to qualify to operate diesel and electrical lift equipment and able to lift up to 20 pounds and perform overhead work; such as drilling, survey laser alignments, alignment point installations, and instrument and cable installations. Use of Theodolite, survey levels, and electronic distance measurement devices. Must be able to qualify to work underground and in radiological contaminated areas.

Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination._ + High School Graduate or Equivalency is required. + Two (2) years underground experience with successful completion of a competency test in basic math is required. _Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information._
