Our teams work closely with leading municipalities, public agencies, major contractors, and engineering firms to support many significant public infrastructure and heavy civil projects. Position Summary We are currently seeking a CAD Technician II to work on Land Surveying projects for our Benicia office to support deliverables via AutoCAD Drafting. This role is well-suited for a motivated, detail-oriented professional who wants to grow their career while working on complex, high-visibility infrastructure projects alongside experienced surveyors. After applicable training and onboarding, this position is expected to be familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D, perform QA/QC reviews, process survey data, prepare drawings, and support project teams while continuing to develop technical skills and expand knowledge of related applications. Duties & Responsibilities Serve as an experienced CAD technician supporting licensed surveyors and project managers on heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including roadway, rail, transit, utility, port, and public works projects. Independently process and draft survey deliverables using AutoCAD Civil 3D with the potential to work overtime (OT) if a project requires it. Translate field data such as GPS, total station, control networks, and field notes into accurate, actionable drawings suitable for design and construction use. Perform internal QA/QC reviews of survey deliverables to ensure compliance with industry standards and continually improve drafting practices. Work directly with field crews, licensed surveyors, and project managers to clarify scope, resolve commitments typical of large-scale civil infrastructure work. Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and schedule commitments typical of large-scale civil infrastructure work. Preferred Credentials A degree or certificate, preferably in drafting or engineering technology, or equivalent experience. Proficiency with Autodesk programs with at least three (3) years of CAD drafting experience. Knowledge of civil or construction engineering - including reading construction plans and documents; typical construction processes and vocabulary; and survey principles, coordinate systems, and methods. Strong organization with attention to detail, recognizing the importance of scalability, trackability, and efficiency. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a team. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with PG&E Standards, National CAD Standards, Trimble Business Center, Point Clouds, LiDAR, and cloud collaboration tools preferred.
Work Location:
This position offers a hybrid work schedule based on project needs and demonstrated performance. In-office collaboration at our Benicia location will be required as needed.
