SENIOR SURVEY CAD TECHNICIAN

We are seeking a Senior Survey CAD Technician to lead CAD production efforts, support survey operations, and serve as a technical resource for our growing survey department. POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Survey CAD Technician leads the preparation and coordination of complex survey deliverables, including boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, legal descriptions, easement exhibits, subdivision plats, and construction staking calculations. This role works closely with Licensed Surveyors, Project Managers, and Survey Field Crews to ensure technically accurate, high-quality deliverables while maintaining CAD standards, project schedules, and quality control procedures. The Senior Survey CAD Technician also provides mentorship to junior staff, supports departmental process improvements, and serves as a technical resource for survey drafting workflows and best practices. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Survey Drafting & Technical Production Lead preparation of complex survey drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D based on field data, records research, and survey calculations Develop boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivision, and construction survey plans Prepare easements, rights-of-way, legal exhibit drawings, and subdivision plats Process field data from GPS, total stations, LiDAR, and other survey equipment Generate surfaces, contours, linework, and point data for mapping and design use Interpret deeds, plats, title commitments, easements, and legal records with minimal supervision Project Coordination & Support Coordinate drafting priorities and schedules with Project Managers and Survey Leadership Collaborate with Survey Field Crews to interpret field notes and resolve discrepancies Support Licensed Surveyors with technical drafting, calculations, and project documentation Track production progress and communicate project needs proactively Assist with workload planning and production scheduling Quality Assurance & CAD Standards Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of survey deliverables prior to final submission Ensure compliance with ALTA/NSPS
standards, state regulations, and client requirements Apply and maintain M2 Group CAD and drafting standards across all deliverables Maintain proper layering, labeling, file organization, and drafting consistency Assist in developing and improving CAD templates, standards, and workflows Leadership & Mentorship Mentor and train junior CAD technicians and support staff Assist with onboarding and technical development of survey team members Provide guidance on CAD standards, drafting procedures, and production workflows Review work prepared by junior staff and provide constructive feedback Serve as a technical resource for survey drafting and CAD-related questions Technology & Process Improvement Support implementation of CAD efficiencies, automation tools, and drafting improvements Evaluate evolving survey technologies and software enhancements Assist with standardization of survey templates, layers, and file management systems Stay current with survey technology trends and software updates POSITION PRE-REQUISITES AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Required 7+ years of experience in survey drafting, geomatics, or related surveying production Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Demonstrated experience preparing complex survey deliverables independently Strong understanding of boundary surveying principles and survey calculations Experience interpreting deeds, plats, legal descriptions, and land records Experience mentoring junior technical staff Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision Aligns with company values: People, Passion, and Performance! Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, CAD, Geomatics, or related field (or equivalent experience) SIT certification or progress toward professional licensure Experience with Trimble Business Center, PIX4d, or related survey software Experience processing drone, LiDAR, or point cloud data Familiarity with GIS platforms and Bluebeam Experience supporting subdivision and construction layout projects BENEFITS
