Construction Survey Technician / Field Layout Specialist Job Description:
Martinez Bros. Contractors, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Survey Technician / Field Layout Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on construction layout experience who understands how to work with AutoCAD, plans, coordinates, elevations, and total station equipment in the field. The position does not require a licensed surveyor , but the applicant must be capable of performing accurate construction layout for public works and civil construction projects. Responsibilities include:
Perform field layout for civil construction projects, including utilities, paving, sidewalks, curb and gutter, structures, grading, and site improvements. Use a total station and data collector to establish points, lines, grades, offsets, and elevations. Work with AutoCAD drawings, construction plans, coordinates, alignments, and field measurements. Calculate and verify layout information before staking work in the field. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and crews to support daily construction activities. Check grades, elevations, slopes, and horizontal control for accuracy. Maintain organized survey notes, point files, and layout records. Assist with quantity verification and field measurements as needed. Identify potential plan conflicts or layout issues and communicate them to management. Qualifications:
Experience with construction staking, field layout, and civil construction projects. Ability to read and understand construction plans, profiles, details, and specifications. Experience using total station equipment and survey data collectors. Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D preferred. Strong understanding of coordinates, elevations, offsets, slopes, and grades. Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Must be able to work outdoors in construction site conditions. Valid driver's license required. Licensed surveyor license is not required . Preferred Experience:
