Qualifications:
- Experience in land surveying will be valued but is not required
- Experience with topographic instruments will be valued but is not required
- Capacity to follow direction from supervisor as well as other members of engineering staff and management team
- Geographic in-state mobility across Texas
- Good oral and written communication
- Positive attitude, high attention to detail, motivated and willing to learn Tasks associated with the role:
- Assists party chief and other survey crew members with topographical surveys and site surveys
- Assists party chief and other survey crew members in operating surveying instruments such as data collectors, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK Receivers
- Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other heavy items, and stacking rods.
- Place and hold measuring tapes when electronic distance-measuring equipment is not used.
- Position and hold the vertical rods, or targets, that Survey Instrument people use for sighting to measure angles, distances, and elevations.
- Perform all additional duties that may be assigned.
- This position assists in the activities of the survey party.
- Receives overall direction from Crew Chief and/or Instrument person.
Conditions of Employment:
- This job has been identified as physically demanding
- Must be able to lift and carry survey equipment on a consistent basis.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees in the organization, both verbally and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a team
