Job Description
Title:
Marine Surveyor (Shipyard Experience) Location CONUS, OCONUS, and Commuting Area of Assigned Base (Extensive Travel Required) Employment Type Full-Time | Government Contract Support Position Overview The Senior Marine Surveyor supports a federal Watercraft Inspection Branch (WIB) by providing technical inspection, survey, and engineering support for vessel sustainment and maintenance operations. This role is critical to ensuring the safety, reliability, and lifecycle performance of government watercraft. The position requires extensive shipyard experience and the ability to support long-term domestic and overseas assignments in accordance with government mission requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform detailed vessel condition assessments in support of sustainment and maintenance programs.- Develop repair item lists, technical findings, and recommendations based on inspections and surveys.
- Conduct inspections and surveillance of vessel hulls, machinery, auxiliary machinery, piping systems, power distribution systems, and corrosion control/coatings.
- Support shipyard maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities through on-site inspections and technical oversight.
- Provide marine engineering and inspection support for sustainment and supportability studies.
- Review, evaluate, and assist in the development of technical documentation and reports.
- Provide CME-level technical support for navigation, communication, and vessel automation systems.
- Experience surveying hulls, machinery, auxiliary machinery, piping systems, power distribution systems, and corrosion control/coatings.
- CME-level Marine Surveyor experience with navigation, communication, and vessel automation systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet government suitability and contract requirements. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience supporting federal or military watercraft programs.
- Experience working in overseas or austere environments.
- Familiarity with sustainment maintenance missions.
