Survey Department Manager Salary:
$100,000•$140,000 Company Description This opportunity is with a long‑established engineering and surveying group known for high‑quality technical work, a collaborative culture, and a strong commitment to community‑focused projects. About the Role The Survey Department Manager will oversee all survey operations from data collection to final mapping, while leading a team of field and office professionals. The role blends technical oversight, staff management, project coordination, and quality assurance supporting land development, municipal, and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Oversee preparation of boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA, and subdivision‑related survey products. Review, approve, and sign survey documents including maps, records, and legal descriptions. Lead research and analysis of deeds, easements, and title documents to support boundary determinations. Manage field data processing, quality checks, and compliance with applicable standards. Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to clarify survey needs and support project goals. Develop scopes, budgets, and approaches for survey‑related proposals. Organize, maintain, and archive survey project documentation to support legal and operational integrity. Manage workload, scheduling, staff assignments, and departmental priorities. Mentor junior survey staff in drafting, research, calculations, and professional development. Qualifications Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (or equivalent eligibility). 5+ years of experience in land surveying with increasing responsibility. Strong understanding of boundary law, mapping procedures, and survey standards. Proficiency with modern survey technology, CAD tools, and data processing workflows. Ability to lead teams, manage schedules, and collaborate across disciplines.
