Position Summary The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for leading field survey crews in the collection of accurate survey data for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, construction staking, utility, and infrastructure projects. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety. Primary Responsibilities Lead and manage field survey crews on a variety of survey projects throughout Colorado. Perform Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Construction Staking, Utility Surveys, and Control Surveys. Operate and utilize industry-leading survey technology including robotic total stations, GNSS/GPS systems, data collectors, UAVs, terrestrial scanners, and LiDAR equipment. Establish and verify survey control networks. Collect, verify, and document field data in accordance with company quality standards. Transfer and manage survey data between field equipment and internal company systems. Coordinate daily field activities with Project Managers and Survey Technicians. Maintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders. Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality management procedures, and equipment maintenance requirements. Train and mentor junior field personnel and Instrument Operators. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of land surveying field experience. Minimum 2 years of experience serving as a Survey Crew Chief or equivalent leadership role. Strong understanding of boundary surveying, topographic surveying, construction staking, control surveys, and
ALTA/NSPS
Land Title Surveys. Proficiency with Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, levels, and data collectors. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to travel throughout Colorado and work occasional overnight assignments. Preferred Qualifications Experience locating Public Land Survey System (PLSS) monuments and retracement surveys. Experience with transportation, utility, renewable energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects. Familiarity with UAV, terrestrial, mobile mapping, or LiDAR technologies. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Experience working directly with Project Surveyors and Project Managers. CAD or office processing experience is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain. Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and supplies. Ability to walk extended distances on construction sites, undeveloped land, and remote project locations.
