Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Role Summary:
As a Field Operator, you are the boots on the ground for a world-class mapping and data collection initiative. We are seeking dedicated individuals for a 100% nomadic traveling role across the United States. This position is designed for those who thrive on the road and are excited by a lifestyle of constant travel. You will work closely with an assigned partner to complete project goals in various locations nationwide. This role requires a blend of physical endurance and technical aptitude, as you will be operating proprietary, state-of-the-art wearable systems to capture data that powers the world's most intuitive ecosystem of devices and services. You will work in a two-person team, alternating between operating the system and acting as a Spotter to ensure safety, efficiency, and the highest quality of data collection in a variety of public environments.
Compensation & Logistics Pay Rate:
$22.00 per hour.
Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours per week as assigned.
Travel Status:
100% travel required; you will be deployed anywhere across the US based on project needs.
Lodging:
Hotel accommodations are fully covered by the project.
Note:
To maximize project efficiency, you will share a hotel room with your assigned work partner.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Collection & System Operation System Deployment:
Wear and operate a high-tech collection backpack to capture data while walking designated routes.
Performance Targets:
Maintain a high pace of collection, aiming for a target of approximately 22km of data per system, per day.
Active Spotting:
Rotate duties to serve as a "Spotter," assisting the primary Operator by navigating, carrying support supplies (batteries, SSDs), and ensuring the Operator avoids obstacles or camera obstructions.
Maintenance:
Perform daily audits and inspections of the system to ensure it is functioning according to strict operational standards.
Logistics & Data Management Device Readiness:
Ensure all collection devices and batteries are fully charged and systems are properly secured for the following day's mission.
Asset Handling:
Responsibly manage and swap sensitive hardware, including SSDs and proprietary system components, throughout the day.
Technical Troubleshooting:
Identify and escalate system or program issues to the Field Coordinator rather than attempting independent repairs.
Safety & Professionalism Public Interaction:
Act as a polite and professional representative during any interactions with the public.
Risk Management:
Adhere to all physical security protocols and safety procedures while operating the system in diverse environments.
Strict Confidentiality:
Maintain absolute project confidentiality and loyalty, protecting proprietary hardware and data at all times.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
Endurance:
Ability to walk for up to 8 hours per day while carrying a collection pack weighing approximately 40 pounds.
Technical Savvy:
Proficiency with the iOS ecosystem and a natural comfort level with high-end consumer electronics.
Travel Flexibility:
Must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time and remain away from home for the duration of project execution.
Communication:
Proficiency in reading and speaking English with the ability to follow complex instructions accurately.
Driver's License:
Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive rental cars in the applicable region.
Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Field Coordinator, who provides daily mission assignments, logistical support, and performance feedback.
