Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. What we are looking for… eda is in search of a skilled and motivated Surveyor in Training (SIT) to join our surveying team. The ideal candidate would have at least two years of experience, be proficient and productive with surveying instruments, capable of taking complete and legible field notes, be able to read and understand surveys, and a willingness to learn and improve their skillset, while enjoying completing the field work associated with surveying & mapping. Typical Projects Private, commercial and retail development sites Future residential subdivisions Local, state, and federal government facilities Public K-12 schools and education campuses Position Summary Surveyor in Training (SIT) will contribute to the survey department's and eda's success through the following: Learn and become proficient in the successful production of survey products such as boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, subdivision plats, as-built surveys, legal descriptions & sketches, elevation certificates, and construction staking. Learn and become proficient in performing field duty surveying duties. Learn and become proficient in performing CADD duties. Assist all other survey personnel as required to facilitate the successful completion of survey projects. Positively contribute to the survey department's and eda's quality standards, project budgets and project timelines. When deemed appropriate by the Director of Surveying, learn and become proficient in the location of Underground Utilities. Actively pursue all necessary steps to obtain a Florida Professional Surveyor & Mapper's license. - it I It is expected that your role of SIT will grow into the role of Project Surveyor over the next four (4) years. Qualifications & Desired Skills Licensed in State of Florida as a SIT or on track to become licensed within six months Responsible, highly motivated and detail oriented Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in the use of survey instruments, equipment, field techniques as well as programs such as AutoCAD Communicate effectively and comfortable working with the public Strong problem-solving skills in complex site conditions Self-motivated and work well with others as part of a team Physically capable of walking long distances, use equipment such as shovels, machetes and lifting heavy objects (e.g., manhole lids) Willingness to work varying schedules; occasional out-of-town work may be required Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record. "The employee must have a valid driver's license to drive their vehicle or a company vehicle to various worksite locations as required by the employer."
