Your enthusiasm for technical work and attention to detail will drive your success in this fast-paced environment. Rodman- Assist the Survey Crew Chief with land, construction, and boundary surveys. Hold and position grade rods, prisms, and other survey instruments. Set stakes, hubs, and markers to designate survey points and elevations. Mark locations for utilities, structures, and construction layouts. Transport, set up, and maintain survey equipment including total stations, GPS units, tripods, and levels. Ensure equipment is handled properly and stored safely. Assist with equipment calibration and maintenance. Clear brush, debris, or obstacles to allow accurate surveying. Use hand tools such as machetes, hammers, shovels, and flagging materials. Drive stakes and install markers as directed. Assist in recording measurements and field notes. Ensure survey points are accurately marked and visible. Communicate measurements and observations to the Crew Chief. Follow company safety policies and procedures. Wear proper PPE at all times. Maintain awareness of surroundings including heavy equipment, traffic, and site hazards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous construction or surveying experience preferred but not required. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team. Basic understanding of construction sites and tools is helpful. Valid driver's license preferred. Survey Technician- Assist in conducting boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys. Operate survey equipment such as GPS receivers, robotic total stations, data collectors, and laser levels. Download, process, and verify field data for accuracy. Prepare survey maps, plats, and construction staking layouts using software. Maintain survey records, field notes, and project files. Set construction stakes and reference points for grading, utilities, roads, and building layouts. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and field crews. Perform quality checks on survey calculations and measurements. Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company standards. Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Problem-solving and analytical abilities. Effective communication with field crews and office staff. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physical capability to walk uneven terrain and lift survey equipment. High school diploma or GED (associate degree in surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering technology is often preferred). Experience with land surveying or construction surveying. Familiarity with GPS and total station equipment. Basic understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and coordinate systems. Ability to read engineering plans and construction drawings. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites. Survey Crew Chief- Lead and supervise survey crews during field data collection, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Train and mentor crew members on proper surveying techniques and equipment usage. Maintain productivity and ensure quality standards are met. Operate and maintain survey equipment including GPS units, total stations, data collectors, and levels. Ensure proper setup, calibration, and care of all equipment. Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs when needed. Perform construction layout, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and as-built surveys. Set control points, benchmarks, and construction layout points. Verify elevations, grades, and alignments according to project plans. Ensure survey work is completed according to engineering plans and specifications. Collect, record, and review survey data for accuracy and completeness. Maintain field notes and electronic survey records. Provide survey data to project managers, engineers, or office staff for processing. Review construction plans, site drawings, and specifications prior to field work. Communicate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and contractors regarding layout and survey needs. Coordinate survey work to support construction schedules and deadlines. Qualifications 5+ years of land surveying or construction surveying experience. Strong knowledge of construction layout and surveying principles. Proficiency with GPS, total station, and surveying data collectors. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and engineering drawings. Strong communication and leadership skills. Valid driver's license required.
