Job Description

Position Overview Power your future with Qualus in our Distribution Engineering department as a Permit Coordinator. The Permit Coordinator conducts required research for permit requirements based on the job type and agency for which the work is to be performed. They will be responsible for researching property appraiser sites, county GIS, legal documents to find plats, easements, right of way dimensions, etc. as a necessary function of their job. The Permit Coordinator will draw and draft permit sketches that adhere to agency specific requirements. This person will be working in a team with Distribution Designers/Engineers for overhead and underground electric distribution projects. Responsibilities Prepare CAD permit drawings that illustrate proposed work within agency Right-of-Way boundaries, including existing underground utilities and utility-to-work-zone measurements. Coordinate regularly with client Permit Coordinators and permitting agencies to ensure submitted drawings meet approval requirements and address revisions or corrections as needed. Track permit application statuses, revisions, approvals, and outstanding requirements throughout the permitting process. Interpret and apply Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) standards and applicable agency requirements to permit drawings. Review and interpret Right-of-Way (ROW), easements, road ownership, survey information, and property boundaries. Submit required documentation to client servers and document management repositories in accordance with established procedures. Maintain accurate project records and permitting documentation. Attend ongoing training sessions to maintain proficiency in drafting standards, client requirements, and permitting processes. Stay current on client guideline updates, agency standards, and permitting requirement changes. Promote and support a safe work environment by following company safety procedures both in and out of the office. Collaborate effective with internal teams, clients, and external agencies to support timely permit approvals and project execution. Qualifications High schol diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree, technical certifications, or related college coursework preferred. Minimum 1-3 years of experience working with AutoCAD or similar CAD software required. Experience with utility permitting processes and agency coordination strongly preferred. Knowledge of Right-of-Way (ROW), easements, property boundaries, and road ownership concepts preferred. Familiarity with Maintwnance of Traffic (MOT) standards and permitting requirements preferred. Experience utilizing GIS mapping systems and reviewing utility or survey data is a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with clients, permit agencies, and internal teams. Must possess strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality permit drawings. Ability to work independently with limited supervision in fast-paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
