Job Description

Job Title:
Construction Crew Chief GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.
Summary/Objective:
The Construction Crew Chief plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating construction activities on-site. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Construction Crew Chief will lead a team of construction workers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project plans, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervise and lead a crew of surveyors, providing direction, support, and training as needed. Plan and coordinate daily field activities to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope. Perform and oversee various surveying tasks, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys. Make in-field decisions on boundaries, topographic features, and tree types. Operate surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors, and automatic levels. Clear survey lines using a machete and locate boundary corners using a magnetic location device. Properly enter and verify data in the form of coordinates, angles, distances, offsets, auto linework, azimuths, bearings, and field codes. Collect, record, and process field data accurately, ensuring documentation and reporting are correct. Ensure the survey truck is fully equipped daily and properly maintained. Manage and maintain surveying equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and calibrated as necessary. Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the crew, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Ensure crew members wear proper attire and use safety cones, signs, and vests as needed. Interact with clients and contractors on-site in a polite, respectful manner, addressing any issues or concerns promptly. Research and gather necessary information for survey projects, maintaining accurate survey notes and records. Acquire daily work assignments and necessary project information to complete tasks effectively. Report any problems with survey equipment promptly and coordinate routine maintenance of the survey vehicle. Accurately record and submit daily time sheets for the crew. Recommend crew members for promotions, disciplinary actions, or dismissal as appropriate. Prepare and submit detailed reports on field activities, project progress, and crew performance to the Chief of Field Operations. Ensure all surveying work meets the highest standards of accuracy and quality, adhering to project specifications and industry standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction surveying, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in surveying is preferred.

Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. over rough terrain may be required. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various pieces of field equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Able to get in and out of vehicle multiple times a day. Drive 30 to 200 miles daily. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. It is required to work outside in all types of weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time. The terrain may be rough, steep, wet, or swampy. Vegetation may be dense, and insects, snakes, or animals may be encountered. Desk/Workstation may be located in a confined area. Moderate noise indoors/outdoors (i.e., computers, phones, printers, and traffic). Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven.
Safety Responsibility:
Adhere to all company and regulatory safety standards and procedures. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner. Participate in safety training and promote a culture of workplace safety.
Travel:
Some travel may be required.
Schedule:
Must be able to start the workday promptly @ 6:30 AM and be available until 6:00 PM if required. Overtime is mandatory.
Availability:
Able to work 40-65 hours per week, including evenings and weekends if required.
Pay:
$21.00 - $35.00 per hour
