Field Crew Chief Description:

The Crew Chief leads field survey crew in performing a variety of survey field work including establishing horizontal/vertical control, topographic surveying, property boundary surveys and construction staking. This position will involve working as a solo crew chief as well as part of a team. Occasional CAD work (including simple survey drafting or calculations) or ancillary duties may be performed as an assist to field duties and project manager. The work is light physical in nature and includes overseeing daily field operations, ensuring data accuracy, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining equipment. The Crew Chief role requires technical expertise with survey instruments and leadership skills to manage a team in diverse and often challenging outdoor environments. Field Crew Chief Requirements:

Minimum Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's Degree in related field is a plus. 2. Strong math skills and ability to interact both verbally and written 3. Knowledge of general survey principles, commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. 4. This position requires driving with a valid Florida driver's license and good driving record 5. Ability to occasionally work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc. 6. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. 7. Must be well organized, able to meet deadlines and deal with clients in a professional manner 8. Have a minimum of 3 years' experience surveying and preferably at least 1 year in a crew chief position 9. Competent in solo surveying work and working as part of a crew 10. Efficiently operate surveying equipment, including GPS, robotic total stations, levels, data collectors, etc. Collection of data and review for accuracy. 11. Maintain accurate, legible organized records in accordance to all operations and work instructions. 12. Adhere to all safety procedures and policies/procedures 13. Anticipate, prevent and solve problems (proactive vs. reactive) within his/her authority 14. Strong communication skills. Thorough and attentive to details. Able to prioritize and multi-task. Proactive and deadline oriented. 15. Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Be safety driven. 16. Travel and stay overnight for work occasionally.
