Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Crew Chief will plan and evaluate proposed survey projects, lead the field survey teams, prepare, process, and coordinate the required field design survey work and daily survey logs as part of industrial development projects based on client's intent/vision, budget, timeline, jurisdictional requirements, and community needs and concerns. In addition, the Crew Chief will lead the company's field survey team in the field.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Leads and trains crew performing all phases of surveying
Typical Duties/Responsibilities:
(May include, but not limited to, the following) Measure distances and angles between points Travel to locations and use known reference points to determine the exact location of important features. Maintain written field book and write daily field reports. Interpret data through instrument scope. Performs surveys on large and complex projects. Communicate daily with the Survey Crew. Use of field data collector and perform calculations for layout needs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to function well in tight spaces and at times stressful environment. Heavy physical effort is required at times w hile performing the duties of this position, the Employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility and job site. The employee is required to walk; have the full use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance. Verbal and written communication is required, as well as the ability to hear. Strength
  • Must be capable of lifting and transporting up to 30-40 lbs. throughout the day, position equipment as directed. Climbing/balance
  • Must have the ability to ascend/ descend. Walking/standing
  • Must have the ability to walk and stand for extended periods. Reaching/handling/fingering
  • Must have the ability to measure, handle supplies, pull manhole covers with hook, operate tools such as machete and bush-hook to clear underbrush and use a shovel. Talking/hearing
  • Must have the ability of verbal and written communication. Seeing
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Must have the ability to distinguish shapes, size, distance and color.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. AND More than 2 years' related experience required.
