Job Title:
Project SurveyorJob Description Join a dynamic and expanding survey team as a Project Surveyor within a well-established, employee-owned design firm specializing in architecture, civil engineering, and land surveying. Our long-standing history in Indiana sets the foundation for a rewarding career in surveying, supporting a diverse range of projects from commercial development to healthcare facilities. Responsibilities + Prepare maps and legal descriptions by creating sketches, plats, and reports documenting survey results and property boundaries. + Verify survey accuracy by checking measurements, calculations, and field data to ensure precision before design or construction proceeds. + Establish property boundaries using deeds, titles, and historical records to determine legal boundaries for land parcels. + Collaborate with engineers and architects to provide data and insights that influence design decisions and project specifications. + Operate advanced surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, scanners, and specialized software to collect and analyze data. + Manage survey teams by coordinating field crews, assigning tasks, and overseeing data collection operations. + Ensure regulatory compliance by confirming that all survey work meets legal, environmental, and industry standards. + Record and present findings by preparing reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders, including project managers and permitting agencies. + Support construction layout by providing control points, elevations, and layout data to guide construction crews. Essential Skills + 5-10 years of experience as a survey drafter/designer. + Professional experience and proficiency within AutoCAD Civil 3D. + In-depth knowledge of construction staking and layout design. + Professional experience with transportation design/ROW surveying as well as civil site drafting/design. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying. + Ability to assist in the field when needed. + Professional licensure path. Work Environment This position is primarily office-based, requiring collaboration with team members on a day-to-day basis. Field visits are necessary as part of project requirements.
