Job Title:
Survey Crew Chief Job Description We are looking for a Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey operations for various projects. The ideal candidate will possess experience in boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and right-of-way mapping. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Responsibilities Conduct field surveys for projects, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking. Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors. Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and project specifications. Interpret and review deeds, plats, and construction plans to establish accurate survey data. Supervise and train survey crew members, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in field operations. Prepare and review survey maps, legal descriptions, and right-of-way documentation. Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project success. Maintain accurate and organized survey records in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for the crew. Essential Skills Minimum 3-5 years of experience in land surveying as a crew chief on transportation projects. Proficiency in GPS, robotic total stations (preferably Trimble). Strong understanding of survey standards and right-of-way procedures. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, deeds, and legal descriptions. Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions. Valid driver's license. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience working on transportation projects. Knowledge of Trimble Geomatics and LiDAR technology. Experience with 3D scanning and digital mapping. Work Environment This position is entirely field-based, requiring work in all types of weather conditions. The individual must be comfortable working near highways. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $93600.00/yr.
