Job Title:
Survey Party Chief Client is unable to provide visa sponsorship now or in the future. Job Description The Survey Party Chief will lead a survey crew performing topography, construction staking, boundary surveys, and control surveys using both conventional and GPS techniques. This role requires taking legible, complete notes, working overtime and weekends, and being willing to travel 95% of the time. Responsibilities Lead and manage a survey crew. Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, engineers, and contractors. Conduct topography, construction staking, boundary, and control surveys. Utilize conventional and GPS techniques for surveying. Take field data from survey trips and perform Civil 3D design work when not in the field. Essential Skills 6-10+ years of survey experience. 4-5+ years of experience leading a crew as a survey party chief. Proficiency in land surveying and survey techniques. Ability to learn and use Civil 3D and drafting software. A clean driving record. Physical ability to be on feet for extended periods. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with pipeline, long-linear, and powerline surveys. Experience with Civil 3D for survey drafting or data processing. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Environment The role is tied to the Lexington location but involves traveling to project sites, primarily in West Virginia, with potential travel to Texas. The home base can be between Pittsburgh and Nashville. When not in the field, work may be performed from home or the local Lexington office. The position offers per diem based on GSA/IRS rates while in the field, with expenses reimbursed, including a federal mileage rate. Survey equipment, a truck, laptop, and phone are provided, with weekly pay for expenses. Training and support in Civil 3D design will be available if needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
