This position enables the District Design Section to perform its duties and responsibilities relative to survey work in an effective manner by having a lead worker over the other technicians to ensure that the best possible survey information is collected for roadway plans, drainage plans, drainage complaints, ROW boundaries, etc. Please visit our DOTD Career Center for more information about our agency: https://dotd.la.gov/about/office-of-management-and-finance/human-resources/career-center/ Three years of experience in an environmental science, engineering or engineering technology, spatial and mapping technology, forestry, ecology, land surveying, land management, or operation and/or maintenance of mobile equipment; OR Eighteen semester hours in either architecture, cartography, construction, drafting, engineering, GIS, a physical science, or in an industrial or mathematics discipline. Job Duties:
This position leads a team of employees to assist professional engineers and/or higher-level technicians in the performance of drafting, design, survey, and/or water resources work in a District Design Office. Leads a team of employees and utilizes a thorough knowledge and understanding of Department procedures, policies, standards and specifications in drafting or designing of construction plans, plan changes, and/or contracts and specifications. Leads employees as the principal survey instrument operator or survey party chief. Acts as lead worker, organizes and oversees the daily operation of surveying field crews. Assists in coordinating, reviewing and monitoring consultants progress and contractual obligations for the preparation of surveys and ROW maps
