Job Description

Dore + Whittier Management Partners (DWMP) is a Project Management firm that offers Owner' Project Management (OPM) services for educational and commercial projects in Massachusetts. Part of our OPM service is to provide an onsite Field Representative (FR)
  • formerly called Clerk of the Works
  • during construction.
The Field representative is required to observe all construction work to verify adherence to project plans and specifications.
Position Summary:
DWMP is seeking the services of an individual who has expertise and experience in public construction . The FR will be responsible for commuting daily (M-F) to Lexington, Massachusetts, which is where the project is located. The position will be for this project only however successful completion of this role may lead to additional work with our firm. The work is planned to take place from 7am-3pm. This position will work closely with a DWMP Project Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience in the construction and supervision of buildings in Massachusetts
  • Expertise and experience in design or construction of public K-12 schools in Massachusetts is preferred
  • Familiarity with reading project plans, specifications, and reviewing the work and
  • quality performed by subcontractors
  • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely is paramount.
  • Physical ability to traverse construction sites
  • Must have vehicle
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform on-site observations during any active construction as may be reasonably necessary to determine in general if progress and quality of the Work being performed will be in conformance with the Contract Documents when completed.
  • Notify the DWMP Project Manager immediately if Work does not conform to the Contract Documents or requires special inspection or testing. Create and maintain a non-conforming work log.
  • Monitor the Contractor's progress as it relates to the construction schedule and alert the DWMP Project Manager to conditions that may lead to delays in completion of the Work.
  • Attend all construction coordination and other meetings as directed by the DWMP Project Manager.
  • Maintain a log of Daily Construction Reports (DCR) of the construction activities observed, including: weather conditions and weather-related site conditions; nature and location of Work being performed; meetings attended and matters discussed; communications between the Town, Contractor, and Architect, including instructions, interpretations, and clarifications provided to the Contractor; any occurrence or Work that might result in a claim for change of contract compensation or time; record all oral agreements, instructions, disputes and questions pertinent to the Work.
Owner's Field Representative shall photograph project progress and document any issues.
  • In cooperation with the Architect, review the work and prepare interim and final punch lists for the Contractor.
  • Update field plans and specifications based upon issuance of RFIs, CCD's, ASI's, etc.
  • Visit any locations for materials being billed for, but located off-site.
Reimbursement for Mileage will be provided.
