This position is primarily responsible for leading conventional survey operations in the field, including boundary, topographic, 3D LiDAR scanning, and construction layout surveys, as well as assisting subsurface utility engineering (SUE) crews when conventional work is not available. The ideal candidate has a strong land surveying background with proficiency in field data collection, 3D scanning, and survey instrumentation, an eye for detail, and a commitment to high-quality deliverables for engineering and utility clients. Key Responsibilities Lead and perform boundary, topographic, underground utility, ALTA, construction stakeout, and control surveys using total stations and GNSS equipment. Perform 3D LiDAR scanning of infrastructure, utilities, and terrain using terrestrial laser scanners and process scan data in accordance with project requirements. Perform LiDAR and photogrammetry survey operations using UAVs for site mapping and aerial data capture. Collect and document field survey data using GPS/GNSS and robotic total stations to support preparation of survey base maps and deliverables. Perform construction layout based on CAD drawings and design data; confirm field conditions and provide clear notes to office staff. Interpret plats, engineering plans, and construction documents to support survey workflows. Support preparation of deliverables through detailed field sketches, measuredowns, and comprehensive survey notes. Maintain and calibrate survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, UAVs, and data collectors. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, survey standards, and projectspecific requirements. Mentor and supervise junior survey staff in field procedures, instrument operation, and documentation standards. Troubleshoot field survey challenges and recommend efficient, practical solutions. When conventional survey work is not available, assist SUE crews in the field by supporting subsurface utility designation and test hole documentation under the direction of other lead SUE crew members. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of field experience in land surveying, including topographic, boundary, and construction layout. Strong proficiency with GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, and 3D scanning workflows. Experience performing LiDAR and photogrammetry survey using drones is a plus. FAA Part 107 certification is a plus. Experience with Leica survey equipment is a plus. Familiarity with interpreting construction plans, plats, and utility records. Ability to use field equipment and data collectors to produce accurate and complete field data. Experience with utility mapping workflows and AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation is preferred. Strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, engineers, and field staff. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to travel regionally for projects. Why Join Us?
