Survey Crew Chief Job Description The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for performing and leading field surveying activities to support construction, mapping, land development, and title-related projects. This role involves researching existing survey records, deeds, maps, and physical evidence to accurately establish locations, elevations, boundaries, and contours. The Survey Crew Chief will play a key role in the continued growth and development of the Survey team. Responsibilities Conduct extensive fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions and physical environments. Research and interpret survey evidence, including deeds, maps, and prior survey records. Determine appropriate methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control. Collect precise measurements of points, lines, areas, and elevations using GPS and robotic total stations. Maintain accurate field notes, records, and sketches to document and certify work performed. Lead and manage daily field operations, including assigning tasks and supervising crew members. Ensure proper care, maintenance, and organization of survey equipment and vehicles. Essential Skills Surveying expertise with GPS and Total Station equipment. Experience in construction layout and topography. Proficiency in land surveying, land development, and using Civil 3D. Minimum of five years of hands-on survey field experience. Strong attention to detail and sound analytical and judgment skills. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Farmington Hills, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $78000.00/yr. Overtime pay at time and a half.
