Job Description
Overview Strickland Engineering, a multi-disciplinary engineering and surveying firm in Southeast Missouri, is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief, LSIT preferred. Future opportunity for promotion to survey department management upon obtaining PLS. Must be experienced in performing boundary, sectional, topographic surveys, and construction staking with working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble GPS, and Trimble Total Station. Responsibilities Lead and supervise survey crew during field data collection, ensuring safety protocols and project timelines are met Operate and troubleshoot advanced surveying equipment including GPS systems and total stations to capture accurate land measurements Prepare and review survey schematics, sketches, and reports using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit to support project planning and design Conduct land surveys such as ALTA surveys, topographic mapping, boundary establishment, and construction staking with meticulous attention to detail Apply principles of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math to solve complex surveying problems efficiently Collaborate with civil engineers and architects to develop schematics and ensure survey data aligns with project specifications Experience Proven experience as a Survey Crew Chief or in a similar land surveying role with a strong background in civil engineering projects Extensive knowledge of land surveying techniques including GPS technology, CAD drafting, GIS applications, and data collection methods Familiarity with surveying equipment such as Trimble systems, total stations, and related hardware Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, schematics development, ALTA surveys, construction layouts, and land boundary determination Proficiency in software tools including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit for drafting and data analysis Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately while applying math concepts like trigonometry and algebra to real-world scenarios Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coordinate teams effectively while maintaining high safety standards This role is perfect for motivated professionals eager to lead innovative surveying projects that shape communities.
