Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team in Greenville, NC. This role is ideal for a survey professional who takes pride in collecting accurate field data, maintaining organized equipment, and leading field operations with professionalism and efficiency. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will lead survey crews in the field and frequently operate independently using robotic total stations and GPS equipment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and completeness of field data while serving as a key representative of the company on project sites and within the community. Key Responsibilities Field Survey Operations Lead and coordinate daily survey field operations efficiently and safely Supervise survey technicians and assign field tasks to maximize productivity Conduct boundary, topographic, construction, and other field surveys as required Operate robotic total stations, GPS systems, and related survey equipment Perform one-person robotic or GPS survey operations when project needs require independent field work Data Collection & Documentation Collect accurate and organized field data for processing and deliverable preparation Ensure field notes, measurements, and digital data are complete and properly documented Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality control in all survey activities Communicate effectively with office staff regarding project status, field conditions, and data requirements Equipment & Vehicle Management Maintain company vehicles, tools, and survey equipment in clean and professional working condition Ensure proper organization, calibration, and safe handling of survey instruments Report equipment issues, repairs, or maintenance needs promptly Client & Public Interaction Represent the company professionally while on job sites and in public settings Maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, property owners, and team members Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and accountability in all interactions Safety & Compliance Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices Work safely in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions Ensure field operations are conducted in compliance with project and safety requirements Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of survey field experience Strong working knowledge of survey data collection software, preferably: Carlson SurvCE Carlson SurvPC Experience operating: Robotic total stations GPS survey equipment Valid North Carolina driver's license Strong punctuality, reliability, and work ethic Ability to successfully complete: Background check Drug screening Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief CAD experience and familiarity with office survey workflows Knowledge of survey processing and deliverable preparation Experience mentoring or leading survey technicians Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and field crew management abilities Excellent organizational and time management skills High attention to detail and data accuracy Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in field environments Commitment to professionalism and quality workmanship Work Environment Full-time onsite field position based in Greenville, NC Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including: Heat Cold Uneven terrain Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying survey equipment Travel to project sites as needed Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to perform field work activities with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Walking long distances over uneven terrain Standing for extended periods Lifting and carrying survey equipment Working outdoors in varying weather conditions Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package and a strong benefits program, including: Health insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Retirement plan with company match Bonus and profit-sharing opportunities Paid time off (20 vacation days annually) Professional development assistance Referral program Company-provided vehicles and equipment Why Join Us?
