Description of Work Please note that all positions close at 12:00 AM on the posted closing date. You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date. This position supports Division 6 / Lumberton Resident Engineer's Office and will serve as Survey Party Chief. Duties include performing survey work on complex construction projects, supervising survey crews and lower-level technicians, making independent decisions, and communicating effectively with co-workers, contractor's personnel, and the general public. When contract surveying is utilized, the Survey Party Chief will be responsible for reviewing the contractor's survey submittals and providing checks of their construction layouts in the field. Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specification/inspection procedures.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range:
NC14 - $52,592 - $92,036 Management prefers applicants with the following: Experience with mathematical functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Knowledge in engineering standards, policies and procedures related to transportation. Experience in performing engineering analysis and preparing technical reports. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors. Experience in directing, assisting, or training of sub-ordinate employees Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." Associate's degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven (7) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
