Job Description

Who We Are Axis Engineering Group was formed to meet the engineering needs of fiber network companies looking to streamline their operations. We provide engineering services to premier all-fiber telecommunication network companies. We partner with our customers to ensure they meet the growing demands in the competitive telecom marketplace. We are staffed with a professional group of fiber engineers, project managers, fiber records management and support staff to meet our customer's needs. Position Overview Axis Engineering Group is seeking a Surveyor / Inspector II to support our telecommunications construction projects. This role is responsible for conducting field surveys, collecting and verifying data, and assisting with the preparation of construction documentation for aerial and underground telecom infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience operating survey equipment, a strong understanding of survey fundamentals, and the ability to work both independently and under the direction of a Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a total station and apply survey fundamentals to perform field measurements and data collection. Conduct existing conditions surveys, as-built surveys, and pole surveys for telecommunications projects. Obtain and document necessary field information, including record verification and data input. Assist with document preparation and work order construction prints for aerial and underground telecommunications facilities. Support projects involving fiber optic cable, utility poles, terminals, pedestals, and hand holes. Provide construction oversight for underground conduit installations and aerial applications. Perform utility locating duties necessary to complete survey activities. Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure project requirements and timelines are met. Travel locally to project sites as needed. Maintain accurate field notes and ensure proper documentation of project activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2+ years of experience in surveying, inspection, or related field. Experience operating total station survey equipment. Working knowledge of survey fundamentals and field data collection techniques. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and telecom infrastructure layouts. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on active job sites. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
