This position is ideal for growth-minded individuals who want to build technical expertise, contribute to daily production, and support long-term mine planning in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. Surveyors work closely with operations, engineering, and geology teams to provide precise measurements, maintain mine control, and ensure that mining activities follow design specifications. Key Responsibilities The Surveyor is responsible for collecting, processing, and maintaining accurate spatial data to support open-pit mining activities. This role includes field surveying, data management, and delivering timely, high-quality survey information to operational teams. The position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a remote mine setting while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence. Perform daily field surveys, including pit pickups, highwall mapping, stockpile measurements, and construction layout. Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and mine grid systems. Set out drill patterns, blast designs, haul roads, and other operational features according to engineering specifications. Process survey data, generate maps, and update mine models using survey and mine planning software. Conduct volume calculations for ore, waste, stockpiles, and project earthworks. Maintain accurate survey records, files, and data integrity for operational and regulatory needs. Collaborate with mine operations, engineering, and geology teams to support daily production and longrange planning. Inspect work areas for safety hazards and ensure compliance with mine safety standards. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and workflow. Provide support and mentorship to junior survey staff as skills develop. Qualifications Experience in mine surveying, construction surveying, or a related technical field preferred. Proficiency with survey instruments such as GPS, total stations, and data collectors. Familiarity with survey and mine planning software such as Trimble, AutoCAD, Deswik, and Civil 3D preferred. Strong mathematical, spatial reasoning, and problemsolving skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, maps, and mine plans. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams. Valid driver's license and ability to operate light vehicles on rough mine roads. Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a technical mining environment. Work Environment / Physical Demands Ability to walk, stand, and work on uneven ground, steep slopes, and active mining areas for extended periods. Regularly lift, carry, and move equipment, survey gear, stakes, and tools up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching while setting up survey equipment or accessing field locations. Ability to climb in and out of vehicles and equipment multiple times per day. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and dust. Use of required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, highvisibility clothing, and respirators when required. Remote rural mine site environment with exposure to weather, wildlife, and rugged terrain. Fieldbased role requiring daily travel throughout the mine property. Fastpaced operational setting with frequent crossdepartment collaboration. Rotating schedules, extended shifts, and occasional weekend work depending on operational needs. Strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
