Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates:
Current NYS Department of Health employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive, service as a Health Care Surveyor 4 (Nursing), SG25 OR a NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive, status in a title SG23 or higher and eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 AND be able to meet the non-competitive requirements below.Non-Competitive Candidates via
NY HELPS
Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and four years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience. One year of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.Substitution:
A master's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of non-supervisory post-licensure clinical nursing experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an acute care setting (e.g. hospital, diagnostic and treatment center, end stage renal disease facility and/or ambulatory surgery center) in a supervisory capacity and have experience training staff and evaluating staff performance. Self-motivated, able to provide and receive direction, and effectively participate in an interdisciplinary management team. Strong interpersonal skills, written, and verbal communication, observation and interviewing skills, and experience supervising surveillance and investigative activities. Ability to interpret regulations and policies and produce quality guidance documents for all audiences. Federal Surveyor Certification. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments The successful incumbent must be flexible and available to work varied hours, which may include weekends and holidays, to respond to emergencies and/or provide guidance relative to off-hours investigations, as needed. Travel, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required. The incumbent will be required to obtain federal surveyor certification within one year of appointment.Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at Step 4 and job rate for PS&T Salary Grade 25 ($108,576
