We are a Land Surveying and Remote Sensing firm with an amazing team in our Portland, OR office. We utilize conventional survey methods, terrestrial LiDAR (3D scanning) and UAS aerial LiDAR and photogrammetric mapping to produce standardized and/or customizable deliverables to our clients. Our team tackles topographic and boundary/ROW projects large and small throughout the southwest - supporting projects for federal, state, city, utility, transportation, power/energy, industrial, and private residential/commercial development.
Job Overview:
S&F Land Services is seeking a Survey Manager with a passion for leading people, and who finds reward in team and project success. S&F is looking for an individual to help lead the day-to-day operations of our Portland survey team, join our existing efforts in marketing and proposing on new opportunities, as well as to continue to help serve our local communities. The successful candidate will be joining a team with a passion for surveying and a drive to provide second-to-none support to the great clients who put their trust in our firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of land surveyors and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient operations. Oversee all field and office survey activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide surveying solutions. Prepare and review survey documents, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, easement surveys, and construction staking. Manage the preparation and submission of survey data, reports, and maps to meet regulatory requirements and client specifications. Ensure compliance with Washington state laws, local ordinances, and industry best practices for surveying. Stay updated on industry trends, tools, technologies, and regulations to continuously improve the surveying process. Provide cost estimates for survey projects and manage project budgets. Resolve any surveying-related issues or discrepancies that may arise during project execution. Maintain and enhance relationships with clients, contractors, and other professionals to support business growth. Assist with business development and proposal preparation for new projects.
Qualifications:
Oregon Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License required. Minimum of 7 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. In-depth knowledge of Oregon surveying laws, regulations, and industry standards. Experience with modern surveying equipment, software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble, etc.), and technologies. Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and teams effectively. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
