Job Title:
Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) - Survey Project Lead Job Description A growing professional services firm is seeking a Survey Project Lead (RPLS) to provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for survey services across a regional footprint. This role partners closely with division, regional, and local office leaders to drive business development, operational excellence, and consistent delivery of high-quality survey services. The Survey Project Lead mentors and develops local survey leadership, helps shape and execute annual business plans and long-term growth strategies, and champions a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on client service and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Develop and coordinate service-specific training, education, and staff development programs for survey teams across the region. Partner with division and regional leadership to create and execute strategic plans that support overall survey service line goals. Provide leadership, mentorship, and ongoing support to local survey leaders across multiple offices. Contribute to both short-term and long-term growth strategies for survey services, including expansion of regional capabilities. Ensure consistent implementation of company culture, policies, and procedures across all survey teams. Stay current on industry trends, technology, software, and equipment, and promote innovation and continuous improvement in survey practices. Collaborate with leadership to establish, implement, and maintain standards for deliverables, including reports, specifications, and data outputs. Coordinate survey service workloads across the region to optimize efficiency, resource utilization, and project delivery. Support hiring efforts by identifying technical staffing needs and advising leadership on recruitment and selection decisions. Assist in maintaining consistency in compensation practices across the survey team in collaboration with leadership. Contribute to business development efforts by providing technical expertise, supporting proposal efforts, and helping drive revenue growth. Promote, uphold, and reinforce safety programs, ensuring compliance with safety standards and expectations across all teams. Ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, and best practices in all survey operations and project execution. Lead by example by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and strong values in all internal and external interactions. Essential Skills Active professional survey license (RPLS) required. Bachelor's degree in land surveying or a related field. 10-15 years of progressive experience in survey services. Strong understanding of the survey consulting industry, including current practices and market dynamics. Demonstrated expertise in technical execution of survey projects and project management. Experience with operational leadership and business practices, including planning, resource management, and process improvement. Strong client relationship and business development skills, with the ability to support revenue generation efforts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with leadership, staff, and clients. Ability to manage multiple priorities, balance competing demands, and work independently with sound judgment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience mentoring and developing survey professionals and local survey leaders. Proven ability to coordinate workloads and resources across multiple offices or regions. Demonstrated commitment to safety programs and compliance with organizational safety standards. Experience establishing and maintaining standards for survey deliverables, including reports, specifications, and data outputs. Familiarity with current survey technologies, software, and equipment, and an interest in promoting innovation and continuous improvement. Experience supporting hiring decisions and contributing to consistent compensation practices within technical teams. Strong integrity, professionalism, and values-driven leadership style. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
