The Staff Surveyor is a senior technical role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, defensibility, and consistency of survey deliverables across multiple states and project types. This position focuses on technical review, boundary resolution, field procedure oversight, and final survey certification, serving as a quality-control and risk-mitigation layer between field production, CAD, and client delivery. This role is not a field crew position. It is a technical authority role designed to elevate survey standards, reduce rework, and protect the company's professional liability. Responsibilities Technical Review & Quality Control
  • Review survey work performed by field crews for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project scope and jurisdictional standards.
  • Review and approve final survey deliverables.

  • Resolve boundary issues, conflicts, overlaps, and discrepancies using record research, field data, and professional judgment.
  • Analyze deeds, plats, easements, title commitments, and prior surveys.
  • Provide clear, defensible boundary determinations suitable for certification and legal scrutiny. Field Procedures & Data Collection Standards
  • Define and outline required field procedures for various project types.
  • Specify data collection requirements to field crews to ensure sufficient evidence is gathered the first time.
  • Provide guidance on monumentation, control, traverses, GPS, and robotic methodologies as applicable. CAD & Deliverable Oversight
  • Review CAD drawings for technical correctness, consistency, and clarity prior to client submittal.
  • Ensure correct depiction of boundary lines, easements, setbacks, control, and annotations.
  • Verify that CAD outputs align with field data, record research, and resolved boundaries. Coordination & Support
  • Work closely with Project Managers, CAD Technicians, and Scheduling to resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance to Project Managers during scope development and change management.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior surveyors and technical staff as needed.
Qualifications :
Required
  • Licensed Professional Surveyor in at least Texas and one additional state (New Mexico strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in surveying with substantial oil & gas and linear infrastructure project exposure.
  • Demonstrated success in high-volume, multi-crew operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in Civil 3D, GIS data workflows, GNSS, conventional instruments, and modern survey technology. Preferred
  • Multi-state licensure (TX, NM, OK, CO, WY, ND, or similar).
  • Experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Ability to bring or build a strong network of industry relationships.
  • Strong business acumen with exposure to budgets, utilization rates, and operational metrics.
