Job Description
Position Summary :
The Construction Intern will support the construction team while gaining hands-on experience in residential construction operations. The intern will learn and apply field construction processes, including site inspections, trade coordination, and quality control. They will also gain experience with submitting permits and navigating local building department procedures. At the conclusion of the program, the intern will present their top three takeaways from the construction field, including insights on successful practices and potential areas for improvement. The program will be in session from June 8 - July 31 and based in Dallas, TX.Job Duties :
General Responsibilities:
Conduct frame inspections and final inspections to ensure construction quality and compliance with standards. Perform daily walkthroughs of inventory homes, identifying and documenting items that require attention or corrective action. Monitor homes under construction, coordinating with trade partners by opening homes for daily work and completing end-of-day shutdown procedures. Assist the Starts team with data review, including logging and submitting permits in accordance with local building regulations.Learning Opportunities:
Provide the intern with hands-on exposure to key functions across the organization. Offer structured shadowing opportunities to build real-world understanding of operations and field execution. Enable the intern to observe and learn from Construction Managers, trades during active phases of work, Permit Coordinators, Operations Specialists, and Area Managers. Support development of foundational industry knowledge. Encourage cross-functional collaboration and communication. Promote professional growth through guided, experiential learning. Key Qualifications Demonstrated interest in construction and field-based work. Willingness to work in a hands-on environment and perform physical tasks (ability to lift to 30 lbs). Strong work ethic with the ability to engage in daily manual activities. Eagerness to learn and develop new skills. Positive attitude and openness to continuous growth and development. Eagerness to gain hands-on experience and exposure to all aspects of home construction and project coordination.Special Projects:
Interns will actively participate in projects within their team and department, contributing to real business initiatives throughout the program. In addition, each intern will be responsible for completing a final project at the end of the internship, showcasing the skills, knowledge, and insights they have gained, as well as highlighting their contributions to the organization.Compensation:
The hourly rate for this role is $17.50-$20.00, with wages paid on a bi-weekly basis.Benefits:

This position requires both office and field work. Employees must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs and ladders, reach, and walk on uneven or active construction terrain. The role involves lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and safely operating a motor vehicle. Clear vision, hearing, and speech are essential to perform job functions effectively. Work may take place in varying conditions, including heat, cold, inclement weather, and potential exposure to hazardous materials. Required PPE may include hard hats, steel-toe boots, eye, hearing, and respiratory protection. Computer proficiency is also necessary. Public contact is required; therefore, professional appearance and appropriate business attire are expected. The physical and environmental demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential job functions.
