Survey Party Chief

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Survey Party Chief to lead field survey operations and ensure precise data collection for land development, construction, and engineering projects. As a vital team member, you will oversee survey crews, coordinate field activities, and ensure all surveying tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Your leadership will drive project success by applying your technical expertise and fostering a safety-conscious environment. Duties Lead and supervise survey crews in collecting land, topographic, boundary, and construction data with precision and efficiency Plan daily survey activities, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines Operate advanced surveying equipment including GPS units, total stations, and robotic instruments Maintain detailed field notes, survey records, and reports; ensure all data is properly documented and stored Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to interpret schematics and project plans accurately Ensure safety protocols are followed during all field activities; utilize hand tools and heavy lifting techniques safely when needed Skills Strong knowledge of construction surveying principles including GPS technology, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and data collection methods Proficiency in Trimble. Experience with utility locating techniques to identify underground utilities before excavation or construction begins Skilled in operating advanced equipment like 3D scanners and total stations; familiar with schematics and construction drawings Excellent understanding of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math fundamentals necessary for precise measurements Ability to interpret project plans using CAD drawings or schematics.
