Your Day to Day Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. Review architectural, structural, civil, electrical and mechanical drawings. Operate builder level, transit, laser engineering instruments and Total Station system. Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features. Measure distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor's chain. Mark measuring points with keel (marking crayon), paint sticks, scratches, tacks, or stakes. Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain. Check surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy. Mark and adjust site layout staking for wall points and elevation. Establish grid lines and footing points on site for construction. Establish gridline and layout staking for interior gridlines throughout buildings, as well as onsite items such as curbs, gutters and planters. Determine final grade elevation for construction of slopes, building outlines and parking lots. Provide structure off sets and/or drawings; set up batter boards. Verify miscellaneous embeds, including anchor bolts, weld plates, etc. Create "as built" drawings, as necessary. Report to Survey Crew Superintendent findings in order to coordinate with work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with project. Perform necessary computations to complete survey work and assisting team members in their field work. Perform field layout for assigned sites Conduct research on projects, review client and government records to assist in determining construction placement Field data collection, setting horizontal and vertical controls, topographical surveys and construction stakeout. Compute and adjust angles, distances, bearings traverses and elevations. Interpret and compute field data, ensures that construction takes place to the dimensions and tolerances required. Maintains accurate survey and non-survey related records in the form of field notes, reports and sketches, maintains vertical and horizontal control notes in field books. Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position Performs other duties as determined and required by project need How You Contribute Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means and methods regarding the work and continually seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent; certified training or education in surveying preferred. Minimum two years of related experience.
