Candidates for this position will work under the direction of the Survey Manager, and must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in land surveying and rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The primary job functions require exercising independent judgment.
Responsibilities:
Manage other Surveyors and Field Surveyors AutoCAD; coordinate geometry computations; assign work and tasks for surveyors and Field Surveyors, assist with AutoCAD and other training Field data processing Topographic Base map preparation and surface modeling Plot/Development Plans and Physical Surveys Subdivision Plats Record Drawings Construction Stakeout Preparing and organizing submittal packages Correspond with clients/attorneys/contractors/municipalities Prepare comment responses
Skills/Qualifications:
Experience in AutoCAD Experience in AutoCAD Map and other GIS Software (ESCRI, ArcView) Experience in Field Surveying (Field procedures, Survey Measurements and field observations, Survey Instruments, Field Data Collection) Experience in Base Map Preparation for Engineering Design (Surface Modeling) Experience in preparing Plot/Development Plans, Physical Surveys, Subdivision Plats, Easement Plats, Record Drawings, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, FEMA Flood Evaluation Certificates Experience in Surveying Calculations (Coordinate Geometry, Traverse Analysis, Boundary Analysis, Map Check, Construction Stakeout) Experience in Property Boundary and Subdivision of land (Review of Courthouse documents, Subdivision Layout, Boundary Law, other legal aspects of surveying) Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Trimble Business Center, TerraModel (or other similar survey computation software) Working knowledge of survey standards and practices (State, NGS, ALTA/ACSM, local municipal ordinances)
Required:
Candidate will have 5-7 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Virginia preferred, or the ability and desire to obtain licensure in the future. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred:
Candidate will have the ability to work as an in-office survey designer, process field data using AutoCAD Civil 3D, have strong math skills, be reliable, detail-oriented and possess a willingness to team and learn.
