Job Description

Rice is seeking a Senior Survey Crew Chief to join our field team in Manassas, VA.
What You Will Do:
Lead a survey crew to perform various types of surveys, such as Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Construction Surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, and various other surveys. Communicate with office staff/leadership to understand the scope of work required before going to the work site, monitor project progress, identify potential challenges and implement solutions to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Operates survey equipment such as laser scanners, digital levels, data collectors, robotic total stations and
GNSS/GPS
equipment provided to perform the field work efficiently; help train new field staff how to operate, utilize, and maintain the survey equipment; and assist in the maintenance and inventory of the field truck, survey equipment, and field supplies. Perform survey calculations and review collected data, correct errors as necessary. Direct the implementation of needed worksite safety and traffic control procedures and devices to assure continuous safety of survey personnel. Qualifications Proficient in operating survey instruments and software, including total stations, GNSS GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors. Comprehensive understanding of survey principles, methods, practices and procedures. Ability to interpret and analyze survey data, maps, and construction plans. Good communication, organizational and leadership skills. Ability to travel overnight and work overtime as needed. Pass a pre-employment driver's license background check and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Must successfully pass periodic drug testing as required by company policy. Healthy physical condition and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and in congested environments.
