Surveying and Engineering Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of surveying and engineering principles, methods, and practices relevant to transportation projects.Right of Way Knowledge:
Foundational knowledge of Right of Way surveying and documentation. Skills to develop and review Survey and Right of Way plans for compliance with Departmental and Statutory standards.Technology Proficiency:
Proficient in operating Windows-based computers and MS Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word, as well as databases and computer-aided engineering software.Communication Skills:
Skills to communicate technical information effectively and professionally to a diverse audience, including those with non-technical backgrounds, virtually, by phone, and in person.Collaboration and Adaptability:

Takes action to meet the needs of others. In addition to the above, the following are also required: A valid driver's license and the ability to operate state-owned vehicles. Ability to traverse rough, steep, and uneven terrain. Ability to maneuver and transport various materials and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. It is preferred that qualified candidates also demonstrate: Demonstrates professional competency in land surveying practices as evidenced by possession of a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certificate or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license. Certification as a Certified Survey Technician through the National Society of Professional Surveyors. Important Notes This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs. This position is not eligible for remote work. Field work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including day and night, and is expected daily. Duties require working on rough or uneven terrain, performing tasks at or near ground level, and standing for extended periods. The role includes exposure to highway environments, traffic, construction activities, environmental conditions, and outdoor elements in both urban and natural settings. In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code.
