Job Title:
Surveyor Job Description The Surveyor will perform a variety of field and office surveying tasks to support construction projects and land development activities. This role focuses on construction staking, topographic, ALTA, and boundary surveys, as well as drafting survey data in Civil 3D. The Surveyor will operate advanced surveying equipment, including Robotic Total Stations and GPS systems, to collect accurate data and ensure high-quality deliverables. Responsibilities Perform field surveying duties to support construction projects, including precise construction staking and layout. Assist in conducting topographic surveys to capture existing ground conditions and site features. Assist in ALTA and boundary surveys to support property transactions, design, and land development. Operate Robotic Total Station equipment to collect accurate survey measurements and layout points. Use Trimble GPS and other GPS equipment to perform field data collection and staking. Draft survey data and prepare drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D in accordance with project standards. Document and organize survey data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability. Collaborate with project teams to interpret survey requirements and provide timely survey support. Follow established surveying procedures and safety practices while working in the field. Maintain survey instruments and equipment in good working condition and report any issues promptly. Essential Skills Hands-on experience performing surveying field work, including construction staking. Experience assisting with topographic, ALTA, and boundary surveys. Proficiency operating Robotic Total Station equipment for data collection and layout. Experience using Trimble GPS and other GPS surveying equipment. Ability to draft survey drawings and surfaces using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Strong understanding of surveying principles, topography, and measurement techniques. Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, and survey documents. Associate degree in Civil Technology or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant education. Attention to detail and accuracy in both field measurements and drafting work. Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with field and office teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with topographic surveys and the preparation of related drawings and deliverables. Knowledge of ALTA survey requirements and boundary survey practices. Experience using AutoCAD in addition to Civil 3D for drafting and plan preparation. Understanding of PLS (Professional Land Surveyor) practices or the desire to work under the guidance of a licensed surveyor. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues with Total Station and GPS equipment. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and project priorities. Willingness to continue learning new surveying technologies and software tools. Work Environment The Surveyor will work in a combination of outdoor field environments and indoor office settings. Field work may involve varying terrain, weather conditions, and active construction sites while operating Robotic Total Station and Trimble GPS equipment. Office work will focus on processing field data and drafting survey drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D on standard computer workstations. The role may require travel between job sites and the office during the workday, as well as adherence to standard safety practices and appropriate field attire suitable for outdoor and construction environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menasha, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
