The Pressure Testing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of product delivery to the client. This position is responsible for performing factory authorized testing (FAT) or verification testing and related tasks for the completion of OSS Umbilicals & Products.Responsibilities:
Perform factory authorized testing (FAT) or verification testing and related tasks for the completion of OSS Umbilicals & Products. Conduct Fiber Optic Testing and Splicing (Outside Plant Certified). Perform Low Voltage (1000V) and Medium Voltage (6000V+) cable testing, including conductor resistance, insulation resistance, crosstalk/attenuation, impedance, and high potential testing. Measure resistance, continuity, and voltage using specialized test equipment. Perform and assist in hydrostatic pressure testing of SDSS Umbilicals and DE Products (10,000-30,000 psi). Set up specialized equipment, perform leak checks using appropriate procedures, and verify check completion. Operate and perform basic maintenance on High Pressure Water Jet and Hydratron pumps. Record all pertinent data ensuring the use of correct digital recording methods. Set up digital recording for pressure tests using CompactRIO, NI equipment, pressure transducers, and other related tools. Troubleshoot products and test equipment effectively. Demonstrate functional knowledge of pumps, manifolds, fittings, pressure ratings, and proper engagement. Read and interpret electrical, fiber optic, and hydraulic schematics. Interpret test data, including plots, graphs, and tabulated parameters, to determine pass/fail conditions and resolve when further analysis is required. Identify and document Non-Conformance Records (NCRs), coordinate improvements, and escalate issues as needed. Understand, report, and review tool status regularly. Support a safe work environment by following safe work practices, adhering to safety guidelines, utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and following Lockout Tagout (LOTO) policies. Provide timely and clear communication to stakeholders regarding production status, tasks completed, detailed descriptions, continuous improvement ideas, and shift pass-downs. Maintain the highest degree of cleanliness and order in all working areas required for assembly operations. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Previous relevant experience aligned with the job description. Possession of both a high level of technical expertise and an innate passion for quality. Specific experience in pressure testing between 5,000 psi and 25,000 psi (Note:
Shipyard hydraulic testing is not considered transferable to this role). Fiber optic experience heavily based in fusion splicing and performing OTDR testing through fusion splices (Note:
Network setup or general troubleshooting experience is not sufficient for these testing requirements). Electrical experience must include testing low voltage cable cores.
