Job Title:
2nd Shift Test Technician Job Description Engage in HVAC test operations with a focus on high efficiency. Perform a range of technical tasks contributing to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Operate, inspect, and maintain chillers and test setups, ensuring optimal functionality. Responsibilities Perform basic to moderately complex technical tasks to aid in engineering project planning and execution. Operate, inspect, and maintain chillers, test setups, and related equipment. Work with electrical equipment, including 460-3-60 machinery, HVAC operations, and refrigerant handling. Calibrate laboratory equipment to measure pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements. Select, connect, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems. Conduct loop calibration and utilize valves for single/double loop configurations. Operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate power management systems, VFDs, boilers, and valve configurations. Coach team members, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and report issues for resolution. Advocate for safe workspaces, uphold 5S principles, and champion the company's EHS policy. Support lab uptime by reporting instrument failures and enhancing preventive maintenance. Collect and report test statuses, teach measurement techniques, and write test reports. Proactively resolve testing hurdles by consulting with development and process partners. Essential Skills High School Diploma or
GED NFPA
Certification 5+ years of experience in HVAC/Chiller operations or laboratory environment with mechanical/electrical machinery. Experience with hand/pneumatic tools, advanced shop mathematics, and precision measuring instruments. Additional Skills & Qualifications AS or AAS in related technical field, Technical/Business School Certificate, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship. Proven ability to independently lead/run chillers and report results. Expertise in loop tuning and drive test cycle/loop efficiency. Technical expertise in HVAC design and components. Understanding of closed-loop control systems and loop stability. Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Experience with medium voltage operations, including arc flash and lockout/tagout procedures. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a state-of-the-art facility located in Mesa, Arizona. This role requires lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing portable ladders. Personal Protection Equipment is mandatory, and good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential. The shift is Monday to Thursday from 5 PM to 3:30 AM with a 10% shift differential, and training on the first shift is required. There are currently mandatory shifts on Fridays to meet production deadlines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
