JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, the Senior Test Technician tests, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of electronic assemblies that are produced at Client or at a customer's location. Employees in this job class apply established procedures and equipment quality standards. This job class requires strong knowledge of digital and analog electronic circuitry, standard test equipment and ATE, programming software and hardware, the ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and assemblies drawings.
Typical duties:
Supports NPI test process and assist engineering with prototype bring up. Sets up and operates a variety of standard and specialized test equipment. Performs failure analysis, development and modification of test equipment and test procedures. Develops and builds specialized test equipment and fixtures. Installs and debugs software programming and test applications. Tests complex analog and digital printed circuit boards and assemblies. Troubleshoots down to the component level and repairs all nonconforming assemblies. Performs failure analysis to determine root cause of failure and recommends corrective actions. Soldering and de-soldering of components on surface mount and through hole circuit board assemblies. Creates bug lists and debug procedures. Collects test and rework data. Provides training and support of lower level technicians and test operators. Utilizes software and completes transactions. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Denotes Essential Job Function Minimum Qualification:
Five or more years of experience in electronic assemblies test, troubleshooting and rework, preferably in a production environment; BSEET preferred, Ability to operate standard electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, variable power supply and digital multi-meters; Strong knowledge of theory of electronic circuitry and electrical components; Demonstrated failure analysis and troubleshooting skills; Ability to learn and apply knowledge in minimal amount of time; Ability to work with sufficient speed, accuracy, and attention to detail to perform job functions as required; Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from team, customers and others; Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English; Human relations skills to maintain effective working relationships with team; Effective customer service skills; Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software; Basic mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common sense skills.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with forklifts and production equipment. Employees may be exposed to noise from equipment in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to elevated temperatures, high heat, occasional fumes, toxic chemicals, and airborne particles.
Physical requirements:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance: Utilizing keyboard Viewing computer monitor and detailed work requiring close vision Assembling small parts requiring manual dexterity Lifting and moving boxes or equipment up to 25 pounds Skills Required Must have relevant test technician experience and comfortable following written instructions, read schematics, and using test equipment like power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.
Education:
Associates Degree; a comparable combination of work experience and education may be considered.
