What We Need:
DFT is seeking a dedicated Senior Test Technician to contribute to our dynamic team during a phase of significant growth within the department. This pivotal role within the Quality Team will collaborate closely with Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering as well as Production. The Senior Test Technician will be instrumental in executing hardware testing procedures, conducting component and product-level testing, and upholding the rigorous quality standards essential for delivering top-tier products. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in electro-mechanical hardware setup, testing, and troubleshooting, spanning from printed circuit board inception to final product completion.
What You'll Do:
Execute electromechanical hardware testing across subsystems, PCBs, cables, and integrated assemblies to support development builds, qualification activities, and production testing. Support development and execution of test procedures including test plans, acceptance tests, functional verification, and regression testing under the guidance of engineers and senior technical staff. Perform troubleshooting and fault isolation using common laboratory instrumentation such as digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic equipment. Assist with hardware bring-up activities, including programming or flashing embedded devices and verifying basic communications interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART) during early-stage system integration. Support debugging activities at both the component and system level by documenting issues, capturing test data, and providing detailed reproduction steps to engineering teams. Set up and operate test equipment and fixtures used in product validation, qualification, and production test environments. Collect, analyze, and document test data to verify product performance against defined specifications and support engineering investigations. Assist in maintaining and improving test documentation, including updating procedures, work instructions, and test records to enhance repeatability and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, and Production to support build schedules, troubleshoot issues, and maintain product quality. Perform other duties as assigned to support product development and manufacturing activities. As a Senior Test Technician , you'll also have the opportunity to support various engineering activities aimed at enhancing product quality and functionality including: Collaborate with engineers in the performance of design validation tests. This includes setting up and operating general and special purpose test equipment to validate the design integrity and functionality of our products. Your expertise will ensure accurate and reliable test results. Conduct initial procedural tests on new or modified equipment to ensure compliance with specified requirements. Your meticulous approach will help identify any discrepancies and ensure that testing procedures can be executed effectively. Set up test apparatus and conduct tests on production assemblies and units. Your attention to detail and adherence to testing protocols will ensure the consistency and quality of our products.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology or related technical field, equivalent military training, or relevant hands-on experience in electronics testing or manufacturing environments. 10-15 years of experience supporting hardware or electromechanical testing, including product verification, troubleshooting, or production test activities. Proficiency using common electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other diagnostic tools. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical work instructions. Experience performing basic PCB or system-level troubleshooting and assisting with fault isolation or hardware repair activities. Strong attention to detail when executing test procedures, data collection, and documentation. Ability to clearly document test results, defects, and troubleshooting steps using written reports or tracking systems. Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience using ERP/MRP or manufacturing systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience in electro-mechanical hardware setup, testing, and debugging, spanning from printed circuit board (PCB) level to final product assembly. Familiarity with embedded systems or microcontrollers, including basic programming or firmware flashing. Proficiency in utilizing a wide range of testing equipment and tools, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and power supplies. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues efficiently. Adaptable and proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Prior experience in a quality assurance or testing role within the electronics or manufacturing industry is preferred. Certification or training in relevant technical areas (e.g., IPC certification) is a plus.
