Job Title:
AI&T Technician Job Description The AI&T Technician supports the precision build, integration, and test of advanced spacecraft. This role focuses on modifying mechanical components, assembling and routing cabling and harnesses, and providing hands-on support for environmental testing, including vibration, thermal, and shock tests. The technician contributes directly to the manufacturing and testing of innovative on-orbit refueling spacecraft, with strong opportunities to learn and develop skills across multiple technical areas. Responsibilities Perform precision spacecraft assembly, integration, and test activities in a manufacturing environment. Modify existing mechanical parts using hand tools and machine tools according to engineering specifications and work instructions. Assemble, route, and modify cabling and harnesses, ensuring proper layout, strain relief, and connection integrity. Support environmental test operations, including vibration, thermal, and shock testing, by preparing hardware, setting up test configurations, and assisting during test execution. Perform orbital welding operations as required, following established procedures and quality standards. Carry out detailed test, assembly, and soldering tasks on spacecraft components and subsystems. Inspect work for quality and conformance, promptly identify issues, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve them. Follow all safety, cleanliness, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) control procedures while working on sensitive spacecraft hardware. Document work performed, including configuration changes and test setups, in logs, travelers, or other required records. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing and test to support the development and delivery of new spacecraft products. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with spacecraft or aerospace hardware in a manufacturing, assembly, integration, or test environment. Proficiency in mechanical assembly, including the ability to modify existing mechanical parts using hand tools and machine tools. Experience with cabling and harness assembly, including routing, termination, and modification. Ability to support environmental testing such as vibration, thermal, and shock testing for aerospace hardware. Practical soldering skills applicable to aerospace or high-reliability electronic assemblies. Capability to perform or support orbital welding operations following established procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision in build and test activities. Ability to read and follow technical instructions, procedures, and work travelers. Comfort working in a structured manufacturing environment with defined processes and quality standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior aerospace industry experience, particularly with spacecraft or satellite systems. Interest in on-orbit refueling or advanced space technologies and a desire to support cutting-edge products. Willingness to learn and enhance skills across multiple technical areas, including assembly, test, and fabrication. Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team in both manufacturing and test settings. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and communicate issues with hardware or test setups. Work Environment This role operates in a manufacturing environment focused on the build and test of advanced spacecraft hardware. The AI&T Technician works hands-on with mechanical assemblies, cabling and harnesses, and test setups for vibration, thermal, and shock testing. The environment emphasizes precision, adherence to procedures, and high-quality workmanship. Team members collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, and test personnel while using a variety of hand tools, machine tools, and test equipment. The position offers exposure to innovative on-orbit refueling technology and provides opportunities to develop skills across multiple technical disciplines within a structured, safety-conscious setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $39.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
