Job Title:
Test Technician Job Description The Test Technician will troubleshoot electronic assemblies and systems to the component level, support test equipment repair, and collaborate closely with Test Engineers and customers to ensure products meet functional requirements and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to diversify their skills, and is looking for long-term growth with extensive training and clear advancement opportunities. Responsibilities Use test failure reports, schematics, datasheets, and other diagnostic tools to accurately troubleshoot assembly and system-level failures down to the component level so they can be repaired. Collaborate with Test Engineers and customers to gain deeper understanding of product functionality when information is limited or unavailable. Provide break-fix support for test equipment, ensuring it operates reliably and accurately. Utilize appropriate tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers to perform testing, troubleshooting, and validation tasks. Create, analyze, and verify documentation, programs, models, and processes as they apply to testing and production support. Demonstrate a discipline-specific understanding of how test activities support overall product requirements, specifications, and company processes. Track bugs and defects identified during testing, document findings clearly, and contribute to developing effective solutions. Support continuous improvement of test methods and procedures by providing feedback and insights from hands-on testing and troubleshooting. Essential Skills Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic schematics and datasheets. Strong electronics troubleshooting skills at the assembly and system level, including component-level diagnosis. Ability to track bugs and defects and contribute to developing practical solutions. Comfort using a variety of electronic test and measurement equipment in a production or lab environment. Ability to create, analyze, and verify technical documentation related to testing and production processes. Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Test Engineers and customers when clarifying requirements or resolving complex issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any software programming experience is a plus and can support automation or advanced test development. Interest in diversifying skills and taking on new technical challenges in a hands-on environment. Motivation to grow within the organization and progress through multiple levels of responsibility. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation. Strong communication skills to clearly document issues and explain findings to engineering and production teams. Work Environment This position is based in a clean, temperature-controlled electronic manufacturing environment, ensuring comfortable working conditions year-round. The facility supports engineering, manufacturing, and support services for complex electronic products in highly regulated industries. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
