Job Description
Test Technician Job Description The Test Technician accurately troubleshoots assembly and system-level electronic failures to the component level, supports test equipment repair, and collaborates closely with Test Engineers and customers to ensure products meet functional requirements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to broaden their technical skills, and is looking for long-term growth and advancement in a clean, well-supported manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Use test failure reports, schematics, datasheets, and other diagnostic tools to accurately troubleshoot assembly and system-level failures down to the component level so they can be repaired. Collaborate with Test Engineers and, when needed, with customers to gain additional knowledge of product functionality when information is incomplete or unavailable. Provide break-fix support for test equipment to minimize downtime and maintain smooth production operations. Utilize appropriate electronic test tools and equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers, to perform detailed testing and diagnostics. Create, analyze, and verify documentation, test programs, models, and processes as needed to support testing and production activities. Track bugs and defects discovered during testing, document findings clearly, and contribute to the development of effective solutions. Demonstrate a basic, discipline-specific understanding of how testing activities support overall product requirements, specifications, and production processes. Follow established procedures and best practices to ensure high-quality, reliable test results and timely resolution of issues. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, and support to help bring complex electronic products to market. Essential Skills Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic schematics and datasheets. Strong electronics troubleshooting skills at the assembly, system, and component level. Experience tracking bugs and defects and contributing to effective solutions. Ability to use appropriate test tools and equipment to perform diagnostics and verification. Basic understanding of how test activities support product requirements, specifications, and overall production processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Any software programming experience is a plus and can support test automation or data analysis. Interest in diversifying skills and working with hands-on electronic hardware. Motivation to grow within the organization and advance through multiple internal career levels. Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with Test Engineers and customers. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation. Work Environment The role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled electronic manufacturing facility that focuses on engineering, manufacturing, and support services for highly complex, regulated products. The environment supports hands-on work with modern electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schaumburg, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
