Technician II personnel are expected to resolve the majority of common hardware and software faults without escalation, provide technical support to Technician I personnel, and contribute consistently to production throughout benchmarks. Advancement to Technician III is based on demonstrated mastery of multiple gaming platform families, the ability to perform board-level diagnostics, software compliance management, and readiness to serve as a technical authority and mentor within the department.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnostic and Fault Isolation Independently diagnose hardware and software faults across stepper reel, video reel, and multi-game platforms including Aristocrat, IGT, Bally, WMS, Konami, AGS, and Ainsworth product lines. Utilize multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and OEM diagnostic tools to isolate faults to the component or board level. Diagnose and resolve power supply failures, motherboard anomalies, RAM/ROM errors, communication bus failures, reel motor faults, and hopper/dispenser malfunctions. Interpret error codes, diagnostic logs, and event history within gaming operating systems to identify root cause of machine faults. Perform systematic fault tree analysis and document diagnostic procedures for recurring issues. Board-Level and Advanced Component Repair Perform PCB-level inspection and isolation of failed capacitors, relays, fuses, transistors, and integrated circuits. Replace logic boards, main game boards, communication boards, display interface cards, and sound boards across supported platforms. Perform reel harness replacement, reel mechanism alignment, and stepper motor calibration. Repair and recalibrate touchscreen assemblies, LCD/monitor assemblies, and CRT monitors where applicable. Diagnose and repair hopper assemblies, coin dispensers, and bill validators to the component level. Software Loading and Configuration Load, flash, and configure gaming software onto target platforms using OEM-sanctioned tools, USB boot drives, and proprietary loading platforms (e.g., IGT Game King loader, Aristocrat
MARK VI/VIRIDIAN
toolsets). Configure machine parameters including game themes, denomination settings, paytable configurations, and jurisdictional settings in accordance with customer purchase orders and regulatory requirements. Set, verify, and document RAM clear procedures following software installation per OEM specifications. Validate software version integrity, checksum verification, and jurisdictional approvalcompliance on all loaded machines. Ensure all EPROM/flash memory installations comply with the applicable regulatory approval documentation on file. Quality Assurance and Testing Execute comprehensive pre-shipment QA protocols: verify game play, sound, lighting, hopper pays, bill acceptance, TITO ticket issuance/redemption, and all button functionality. Perform door-open/door-close logic tests and verify all bill-to-bill, door, and logic security switches function correctly. Document all QA outcomes in the WMS system and attach technician sign-off to each unit prior to final staging. Return units failing QA back to the active repair queue with documented failure notes. Regulatory and Documentation Compliance Ensure all machines are in full regulatory compliance prior to shipment, including intact regulatory identification plates, unbroken security seals, and current jurisdictional software approvals. Maintain accurate work orders for each unit, documenting all parts replaced, software loaded, configurations made, and tests performed. Assist with preparation of Letters of Destruction, Addendums, and Internal Incident Reports when machines are withdrawn from service or regulatory incidents occur. Support compliance audits by providing accurate unit-level repair and configuration records upon request. Team Support and Mentorship Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to Technician I personnel. Escalate complex or unresolved faults to Technician III with detailed diagnostic notes to minimize redundant diagnostic work. Assist with production scheduling and daily workflow prioritization under direction of the Technical Operations Manager.
