Job Title:
Roadway Engineer (E.I.)
Location:
Chipley, Florida Overview Seeking a Roadway Engineer (E.I.) to support transportation projects throughout the Florida Panhandle, with a primary focus on FDOT District 3 work. This role will be heavily design-focused and offers exposure to all phases of roadway project delivery. Key Responsibilities Assist in the design of roadway and highway projects for FDOT and local municipalities Prepare PS&E plans, including alignments, profiles, cross sections, and typical sections Perform quantity calculations and cost estimates Support drainage and utility coordination efforts Utilize design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, and GEOPAK/OpenRoads Designer Coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants on project deliverables Assist with plan production and QA/QC reviews Participate in client meetings and project coordination as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Engineer Intern (E.I. / EIT) certification required 0-4 years of roadway or transportation design experience Familiarity with FDOT design standards and criteria preferred Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer strongly preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment Preferred Experience Exposure to FDOT District 3 projects Internship or full-time experience supporting roadway design Basic understanding of drainage, MOT, and utility coordination Why This Role Opportunity to work on FDOT projects across the Panhandle Strong mentorship and path toward PE licensure Hands-on design experience with increasing responsibility Stable backlog of transportation work in District 3 Get job alerts Share Copied to clipboard Related roles Civil Engineer
