Job Description

A leading engineering and construction contractor is currently seeking a permanent Consultant Engineer to provide practical, buildable engineering solutions and support multidisciplinary project delivery from initial concept through to final completion.
Salary :
£55,000 - £70,000 per annum (DOE)
Locations :
Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Durham, Scarborough, Dorset, or West Yorkshire Working Arrangement:
Office-based / Hybrid (with remote options considered depending on proximity to office hubs)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical engineering consultancy support across early-stage and live projects. Develop practical concept and detailed design solutions in line with relevant industry standards. Review and verify technical submissions, calculations, and external design information. Liaise with clients, architects, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams. Support pre-construction, tender, and project delivery stages. Conduct comprehensive technical assessments, feasibility studies, and design reviews. Contribute actively to value engineering and buildability improvements on site. Attend client design meetings and present clear technical input to stakeholders.
Requirements :
Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or a related discipline). Proven experience working within a consultancy or contractor-side engineering environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Experience working across multidisciplinary teams. Chartered status (or actively working towards chartership) is highly desirable.
